Nom Nom: Fashionista Briana Bigham Shares Her Fave NYC Eats

demetria lucas February 2, 2016

Meet Briana. She's an NYC-based fashion designer, who helms a handbag and accessories collection, B. Marie. (See her purse in the pic? That's B. Marie.) She's also a Southern girl (by way of Atlanta) and an enthusiastic eater... with very high standards.

I convinced her to give up her faves in NYC, which was... tricky. Because of the density of the city, everyone here cherishes exclusivity and privacy. Your restaurants are YOURS.  I told her it was for a worthy cause: YOU. So she obliged. LOL.

Check out Briana's Manhattan must eats below:

1. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer

So technically, Black Tap is a burger joint. And yes, the burgers are amazing. But the big draw is the milkshakes. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait. The locations (one on 14th Street, another in SoHo) have been getting a LOT of press lately and there can be a 2 hour wait to be seated on weekends.

2. Ricardo's Steakhouse

It's a reliable turn up and the food is good. Order the bread basket. Trust me. (EDIT NOTE: And the asparagus.) If you swing by for your birthday, order the brownie sundae. They'll add a firecracker and the ever-present DJ will switch the music to 50 Cent's "It's Your Birthday."

3. Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse

Calling on meat lovers!: It's a chain yes, but there's a reason why this Brazilian steakhouse is in every major city. My guess? It's the garlic butter fillet mignon. What more do I need to say?

FYI: Fogo de Chão is participating in NYC Restaurant Week, which ends Friday, Feb. 5. Dinner is reduced to $38pp.

4. Red Farm

Farm to table Chinese food in a cute setting. And the dumplings look like Pac-man ghosts (or Easter Peeps).

5. John Brown Smokehouse

It's Kansas City style BBQ in Long Island City with an awesome view of the Manhattan skyline. Hands down, the best BBQ in the city.

6. Ace hotel

This is my sexy snack and wine spot when I need to work, but not at the house. Great wi-fi.

7. Bubby's

Bubby's is an NYC staple. It originally started as a pie company in the 90s, then the menu evolved to include comfort food. Everything's good, especially the fried chicken.

8. Claw Daddy's

It's the best of New Orleans in New York, offering Louisiana boils, po' boys, plenty of of oysters, and jambalaya. If the food isn't enough to entice you, go for the seven flavors of "Adult Capri Sons" served in plastic baggies.

9. Billie's Black

Harlem soul food that rivals Atlanta. Yeah, that good.

10. The Penny Farthing

I discovered this restie by accident. I was at a house party, a friend called in an order for delivery. When it arrived, she insisted I try her short rib grilled cheese sandwich. I've been hooked ever since.
