See Some Art: "Art for Social Justice" at Urban Zen (NYC)

demetria lucas January 31, 2016

I swung by Art for Amnesty's  "Art for Social Justice" exhibit at Urban Zen after seeing it flood my timeline on Friday night. I missed the opening night (private) festivities (and Usher and Donna Karan). Womp.

Luckily, I swung by on Saturday, not even knowing that 1) there was an event for the exhibit featuring the actual artists and; 2) the exhibit was only open to the public for ONE day.

Touring the Whitney Plantation, America's First Slavery Museum

demetria lucas January 29, 2016

Unlike most plantations, the Whitney functions as a museum about slavery, the only one. It opened in December 2014.  The Big House (above) is said to be "one of the finest surviving examples of Spanish Creole architecture and one of the earliest raised Creole cottages in Louisiana".

Nom Nom: Date Night at The Regal (Williamsburg BK)

demetria lucas January 28, 2016

Enter The Regal Diner and Cocktail Bar, the latest venture from former Taj frontwoman Delores Auguet and her partners from Hotel Chantelle on the Lower East Side. They've transformed the space (formerly Hope Garage) into a chic late-night dining option that opens in Williamsburg TODAY. The Regal is  sexy without trying too hard, affordably priced (must mention because gentrified Brooklyn can get way out of hand) and I can attest that the food-- and service-- are divine.

Hubs and I headed over last night for a preview tasting. He kicked off the evening with the Everything Nice (vodka, bianco vermouth, lemon, spiced caster sugar, fresh basil, fresh berries). It looked delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't try it. I gave up liquor (until further notice) four months ago. I live on seltzer water (and coffee) these days. Womp.
